Documentary & Photojournalism
Beginning his career as a photojournalist intern at a daily newspaper in Santiago, Chile, Lars has fifteen years experience in the field of documentary photography-- most recently as the chief photographer for the Half Moon Bay Review. He has traveled to Cameroon for a documentary of the last surviving master of a tribal instrument, the US//Mexico border to create portraits of migrants at a refuge, and on a trekking expedition to a Buddhist monastery in the foothills of Mount Everest.
Portraits & Events
Available as a freelance photographer, Lars documents events such as the Half Moon Bay International Marathon, the Mavericks big wave surf contest, and the Pie Ranch benefit farm feast. He photographs weddings, family portraits, professional head shots, and birthday parties, among other things, in an easy-going, natural, and creative way, striving to capture real expressions with ambient light.
Teaching & Workshops
Lars has seven years of experience in the classroom as an instructor of traditional and digital photography. For three years he taught black and white shooting and printing at a high school, continuing as an adjunct professor in digital photography with a focus on composition and Adobe Lightroom. Lars mentors individuals from beginners to professionals practicing the philosophy of mindful photography - working with intention and a process of conscious decisions.
